Things you need to know

  • In order to obtain capacity in a JAO Auction, a market participant must be registered at JAO (this also applies to Shadow Auctions). Details on the registration and regulation can be found in the Long Term Harmonized Auction Rules (published in the Resource center section of the JAO website. The fallback procedure for allocation of day-ahead capacity ("Shadow Auction Rules"), as referred to in article 12.16 in the Dutch grid code ("Netcode elektriciteit") can also be found in the Resource center section of the JAO website.
  • In order to assure that obtained capacity can actually be used by means of sending nominations to the TSO a Notifications of Use of Capacity (N.U.C.) must  be handed over to TenneT. You can find the N.U.C.. on the download section of  TenneT's website. This form have to be filled in, signed, scanned in and sent to operationalsettlement(at)tennet.eu.

Time schedule

The N.U.C. must have been received by TenneT no later than two working days before the day to which the capacity relates (in line with the timings as set forth in of the Harmonized Auction Rules).    

Requirements

  • The Interconnector Trade Responsible (ITR) must be a Certified Balance Responsible party when acting on the Dutch end of an interconnector or possess a recognition as Access Responsible Party when acting on the Belgium end of an interconnector or have entered into a Bilanzkreisvertrag when acting on the German end of an Interconnector with the German Party concerned (TenneT or Amprion), or hold a Balance Responsible Agreement with Statnett when acting on the Norwegian side.
  • The ITR s must nominate the import or export programme on their side of the border to the concerned TSO.
  • The ITR s must have a different EAN-code. This means that every ITR must have a unique EAN code of the country in which they are a certified Balance Responsible Party (Netherlands), Bilanzkreisvertrag (Germany) or an Access Responsible Party (Belgium), a Balance Responsible Party (Norway).
