We are primarily tasked with providing power transmission services, system services and facilitating the energy market. Our core tasks follow from our appointment as grid operator under the Dutch 'Elektriciteitswet' (E-wet) and the German 'Energiewirtschaftsgesetz' (EnWG).
Balance responsible parties
At the end of every day, the balance responsible parties parties measure their actual electricity production or consumption and report this to TenneT.
Our customers include everyone connected to the electricity grid – producers, regional grid operators and corporate users – as well as the parties responsible for metering and those responsible for the programmes that specify how much each connected party expects to feed into and take out of the grid each day (programme responsible parties).
At the end of every day, the programme responsible parties measure their actual electricity production or consumption and report this to TenneT. We then settle the difference between the agreed volume and the actual volume. Without these programmes there would be an imbalance with financial consequences (imbalance settlement).
The electricity grid is installed, managed and maintained by the grid operators. The grid operators are also responsible for connecting customers to the electricity network without prejudice.Read more
