We are primarily tasked with providing power transmission services, system services and facilitating the energy market. Our core tasks follow from our appointment as grid operator under the Dutch 'Elektriciteitswet' (E-wet) and the German 'Energiewirtschaftsgesetz' (EnWG).
The wind power line.
About the project
Germany has set itself a very ambitious objective: at least 80% of the power supply should be fed by renewable energies by 2050. The power grids have to be upgraded in order to guarantee safe and competitive power supplies in the future as well. In this case, high-capacity North-South power lines such as SuedLink will play a decisive role.
Now that the legislator has specified a general underground cable priority for direct current projects, the SuedLink power line is currently being re-planned. For this purpose it is necessary that the statutory requirements are specified as a planning method by the Federal Network Agency as the responsible authority. We will be working out new power line corridors and presenting them to the public on this basis.
TenneT supports the general underground cable priority for direct current projects. We will be making the best of the associated opportunities for developing consensual solutions with the public in the case of SuedLink. We will yet again be seeking early and close interaction with the public during the course of replanning.
