Our key tasks

We are primarily tasked with providing power transmission services, system services and facilitating the energy market. Our core tasks follow from our appointment as grid operator under the Dutch 'Elektriciteitswet' (E-wet) and the German 'Energiewirtschaftsgesetz' (EnWG).

East coast line

About the project

A full 500 megawatts of renewable energy was fed into the electrical grid in Ostholstein in 2015. Calculations have shown that the share of renewable energy will rise in the coming years to roughly 1,500 megawatts. The grid infrastructure in eastern Schleswig-Holstein is not sufficient for this increasing energy load. The grid must therefore be urgently expanded. Accordingly, the Bundestag has confirmed the expansion of the east coast line from the district of Segeberg through Lübeck to the Göhl region in the current Federal Requirements Plan Act.
