Our key tasks

We are primarily tasked with providing power transmission services, system services and facilitating the energy market. Our core tasks follow from our appointment as grid operator under the Dutch 'Elektriciteitswet' (E-wet) and the German 'Energiewirtschaftsgesetz' (EnWG).

Electricity market

The energy sector is developing rapidly. The process of European market integration began some years ago. Its purpose is to create a single European market that enables market parties to trade gas and electricity across national borders easily and efficiently.

About the project

The entire Altheim – St. Peter am Hart project in Upper Austria with the Simbach branch and the Altheim – federal border (Matzenhof) measures are established in the Federal Requirements Plan Act (BBPIG) as projects that are urgently essential to the energy market. They form the basis for a secure supply of electricity in connection with the transition to electricity from renewable sources and following the shut-down of the Isar 2 nuclear power plant in the year 2022.
