We are primarily tasked with providing power transmission services, system services and facilitating the energy market. Our core tasks follow from our appointment as grid operator under the Dutch 'Elektriciteitswet' (E-wet) and the German 'Energiewirtschaftsgesetz' (EnWG).

Our grid

TenneT manages the high-voltage grid in the Netherlands and large parts of Germany. TenneT transmits electricity at 110,000 volts (110 kV) and higher. With around 23,000 kilometres of high-voltage lines, we cross borders and connect countries.

Lex Hartman steps down from the Board of TenneT

  • TenneT thanks Lex Hartman for his major contributions to the spectacular development of TenneT in Germany and the Netherlands 

    As per 1 January, 2019, Lex Hartman will step down from the Executive Board of TenneT Holding B.V. At the same time, he will relinquish his responsibilities as statutory director of TenneT TSO B.V. and TenneT TSO GmbH.

    Lex started his career at TenneT in 1999. During his long tenure, he held various positions. Since 2008, Lex was part of the Executive Board of TenneT Holding BV and since 2010 of TenneT TSO GmbH. Next to that Lex is director at NLink International BV and BritNed Development Ltd.

    In addition to his Board positions and general management responsibilities, Lex oversaw a variety of functions, including Communications, Public Affairs, Strategy, Business Development, European Affairs, M&A and Legal Affairs. Currently, his responsibilities include large projects in Germany, the Committed Power sports program, Customers & Markets, Regulation, Procurement, Data protection, Compliance, Digitalization, Grid innovation and Human Resources Germany.

    Lex Hartman will stay in close contact with TenneT, advising the board on strategic issues.

    Manon van Beek, CEO of TenneT Holding BV, commented: "We would like to wholeheartedly thank Lex for his major contributions in the Executive Board to the development of TenneT. This includes the acquisition of Transpower in Germany, a major milestone in the history of TenneT. Furthermore, Lex made a tremendous contribution to the improvement of TenneT's visibility and reputation in Germany."

    Lex Hartman: "After having worked as a board member for this fantastic company for 10 years, is it time for a change. This is good for TenneT and good for myself. I am grateful that TenneT gave me the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to society. After a short break, I will make sure to continue with that contribution."
