Our key tasks

We are primarily tasked with providing power transmission services, system services and facilitating the energy market. Our core tasks follow from our appointment as grid operator under the Dutch 'Elektriciteitswet' (E-wet) and the German 'Energiewirtschaftsgesetz' (EnWG).

Electricity market

The energy sector is developing rapidly. The process of European market integration began some years ago. Its purpose is to create a single European market that enables market parties to trade gas and electricity across national borders easily and efficiently.

Challenges of the DSO with regard to the LF/BKV

The distribution system operator (DSO) ensures in each case that the supplier (LF) receives all information on the feed-in and draw-off points assigned to it in the delivery month on time. Only in this manner can the LF determine the necessary energy quantities and their provision. The balancing group manager (BKV) examines the compliance of the previously granted allocation authorizations (master data), as well as energy quantities determined by the DSO (transaction data). This is based on the supplier time series totals.
