TenneT manages the high-voltage grid in the Netherlands and large parts of Germany. TenneT transmits electricity at 110,000 volts (110 kV) and higher. With around 24,500 kilometres of high-voltage lines, we cross borders and connect countries.

Meet usCongestion study Friesland
In the south and west of Friesland, the limit for feeding electricity back into the national high-voltage grid will be reached in 2021. The high-voltage stations and connections in this area are at their maximum limit of what can be transported. TenneT will invest a quarter of a billion euros in the coming years to increase the capacity of the grid. At the same time, the national grid manager is investigating the possibilities of creating more connection space with other solutions.
National grid operator TenneT is looking for parties in Friesland, Flevopolder, Gelderland, Utrecht, Limburg and Brabant that can handle their electricity supply and demand flexibly. This exploration is part of the congestion study that the grid manager is currently conducting in order to use the busy electricity grid even more intensively.
