We are primarily tasked with providing power transmission services, system services and facilitating the energy market. Our core tasks follow from our appointment as grid operator under the Dutch 'Elektriciteitswet' (E-wet) and the German 'Energiewirtschaftsgesetz' (EnWG).
Vertical grid load
The vertical grid load reflects the sum with correct sign of all power exchanges from the transmission network in the TenneT control area via directly connected transformers and lines to distribution networks and end consumers.
The vertical grid load should not be confused with total load. Locally produced energy, such as solar energy, is mainly fed directly into medium- and low-voltage grids and thus already covers part of the total load that is not covered by the vertical grid load.
While the share of renewable energies in total power generation is constantly growing, we at TenneT are responsible for maintaining the power balance at all times. This ensures a secure supply for our customers.
The vertical grid load is shown as a quarter of an hour average for the respective time. For example, 11:15 a.m. references the period from 11:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. The diagram shows values from the operational measurement; thus, data updates are possible.
