We are primarily tasked with providing power transmission services, system services and facilitating the energy market. Our core tasks follow from our appointment as grid operator under the Dutch 'Elektriciteitswet' (E-wet) and the German 'Energiewirtschaftsgesetz' (EnWG).
Day ahead generation forecast & actuals solar
The actual solar energy feed-in refers to the total physical solar energy feed-in in the TenneT control area per time unit. The data are based on a projection of the online measured feed-in values of reference photovoltaic plants. The forecasted total solar energy feed-in is a combination of several solar energy feed-in forecasts at 8:00 a.m. for the following day (previous day's forecast).
The generation of solar energy depends on current weather conditions - but not on demand patterns on the energy market. In the course of the energy transition, the generation levels from volatile solar energy are constantly increasing. Accordingly, forecasting actual generation due to the high installed capacity is a particularly important and challenging task.
We are continuously working to reduce the discrepancies between forecasted and actual output. This ensures a reliable power supply and reduces costs, for example for the use of control energy.
The actual solar energy feed-in is shown as a quarter of an hour average for the respective time. For example, 11:15 a.m. references the period from 11:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. The diagram shows values from the operational measurement; thus, data updates are possible.
